The Research Institute of Petroleum and Petroleum Gas was founded on 29th of March in 1996. It was transformed from the former research institute that was engaged in research and development in the field of crude oil processing and petrochemistry more than over 40 years. The activities of the company had developed and diversified over its long-lasting history and today they involve 5 basic pillars:

1. testing at independent laboratories involving an inspection body;
2. process safety and environment;
3. specialties production (low-tonnage production);
4. geological survey of the environment
5. research and development.
